Personal Agent Setup with Dots and Codex
This setup utilizes Dots as an orchestrator agent for managing tasks and communication through voice notes, screenshots, and connected apps like GitHub and Slack. Codex enhances functionality by facilitating access to authenticated sites and automating context setup for focused tasks.

chatgpt dots with codex is literally a life cheat code
here’s my ridiculously simple setup
1) dots is my orchestrator agent:
being v mobile-native user: i keep sending it all voice notes, screenshots, random ideas, work problems or life admin from my phone
the single chat interface has continuous context from our convos + the apps i’ve connected, so i don’t have to write a fresh brief every time
+ it having all my memory/convo from chatgpt really helped as it already knew my taste & habits
(single chat + parallel tasking is just 🤌 ux)
2) connections:
i've following connected:
→ github (helps me raise & review bugs pro-actively)
→ slack (all product/bugs context + tagging my team members)
→ email (my life context - particularly to manage my entire travel)
→ docs/figma (monitor, make wireframes & review designs - it also sends me as PDF to review designs)
3) codex as tool:
my dots uses codex as a tool as there's many authenticated sites (eg. X or telegram) + many websites now blocks dot's computer (as it's a data center IP - eg. amazon)
and it automatically sends all requests to my laptop's codex as soon as it's online (eg. filling a visa application)
and i just need to manage a single convo
+ it also sets up all context for my codex session for a dedicated focussed task (eg. making a pitch deck or wireframing a feature spec)
- codex particularly is really helpful in accessing all social sites like X, whatsapp, insta, telegram via computer use - as these apps have tons of my life/work context
(ofc i enter all my passwords myself)
4) custom instructions:
i just keep rambling all my thoughts as a voice note on how i want dots to behave or in general my world views
+ giving as much feedback as you can
this helps dots to be much more personalised as per taste + bring back that context when relevant for a task
eg. i've told dots to auto-identify bugs from all channels and give me the supported cause + possible fix, very concisely
--
underrated: but dots usage is currently free - so you'll also save a lot on your codex usage
but yeah i've finally found a good vertical personal agents setup with minimal context-switching and i can delegate everything from my phone on the go
and this makes me soo excited for the next consumer ai wave!
